Facelift for Facebook Profile Pages
Written by Brandon Prebynski

Your Facebook profile page could soon be receiving a facelift.

The new profile page design attempts to reorganize and remove a lot of the clutter that can be found within current profile pages.

Profile pages will now be displayed using a tabbed system for each area, such as wall posts, personal information, and photos.

With the availability for users to display of so many applications, the new design is more than needed.

I would guess that we can expect an outcry from Facebook users, as we have for all the other Facebook changes. I, however, think the new design is necessary.

"The thinking goes that it’s likely that a new tab could couple all of the applications. For now, Facebook applications get smushed onto your profile page. It’s cluttered. By giving apps less space Facebook is hoping to clear out some of that clutter with better applications."

Google Offers Web Site Creation Tool

It’s no secret that anybody can make and publish a web site. Now Google is attempting to make the process even easier. The most popular spot for finding Web sites is attempting to become the go-to place for creating Web sites too.

As stated on the Google Sites home page:

Google Sites, a new offering from Google Apps, makes creating a team site as easy as editing a document. Use Google Sites to centralize all types of information -- from videos to presentations -- and share your site with just a few people, your entire organization, or the world.

Anyone can do it

Building a site is as simple as editing a document, and you don't need anyone's help to get started.

One-stop sharing

Create a single place to bring together all the information your team needs to share, including docs, videos, photos, calendars and attachments.

Work together

Invite co-workers, classmates, or your entire organization to edit your site with you to keep it fresh and up-to-date. And let as many or few people view your site as you want.

“With only a few clicks, just about anyone will be able to quickly set up and update a Web site featuring wide an array of material, including pictures, calendars and video from Google Inc.'s YouTube subsidiary, said Dave Girouard, general manager of the division overseeing the new application.”

Will this service catch on in the Web community? Or will users strive to use more complex web editing tools in order to be able to design and develop more customized features for their sites?
