Web 2.0 is all about ideas. New gadgets and devices are released to the public every day that take advantage of the latest and greatest in technology. But you have an idea too, and you want to make that idea come to life and prosper.

Many times, offering these new products or services in technology means starting a business to do so. Hence, we have the "startups." Companies that come out of nowhere to offer a product or service that may become the rave among its users.

If you have at all kept up with the happenings of virtual worlds, you have heard about and/or participated in Second Life and its user's accomplishments. If not, take a look at http://www.secondlife.com.

Most recently in Second Life, musical bands have been turning to audiences inside the virtual world as a means of presenting their music.

In Denver, Colorado the bands Bad Weather California, Born in the Flood and Meese played a concert. The concert was not a typical music fest with a synchronous, physically abreast audience to embrace the sounds of the band. The concert was simulcast Online, inside the world of Second Life and on ManiaTV, http://www.maniatv.com.

Online environments have gained a lot of steam for streaming productions as venues for some of the lesser-known content providers lately. It will be a short matter of time before the larger name bands and other entertainment providers start using the Internet as a regular venue for live performances.

Could these types of performances be the answer to the lost profits of illegally downloaded music files?
